Three miles on Bishop Scott Road with Matt. It’s nice to be home and running the old high school cross country routes again.

First day of preseason! Ran a Huntington with Tatyana; it sure went a lot better than our inaugural run a year ago! It’s good to know that nearly everyone from last year is running again this year. The prefrosh seem cool; I’m looking forward to the season.

Morning: Ran 15 minutes for warm-up, 20 minutes tempo, and 15 minutes cool-down along the Arroyo. Five miles feels like nothing now. : ) I’m always afraid of rolling my ankle on uneven ground, and as a result I don’t go as fast as I should on trails, especially when running downhill. Susan brought her baby! He came to all of our practices last year…but that was not quite the same thing. Susan’s thinking of getting him a little beaver costume—he can be our mascot! Very cute.

Stephanie sent out an email to the team today asking if anyone like to run Hood to Coast next year. I’m really excited about this, and hope we will have enough interest to form a team!
Afternoon: I looked up the temperature online before heading out to practice: 105 degrees! As a team, we ran a warm-up but no workout—16 minutes on the North Field. Masha is taking over for Natalya while she’s abroad, and led an abs workout afterwards.

Morning: The air is smokier today then it has been the past two days; it turns out the giant smoke clouds from the mountain have now drifted down to cover our area. Ran a Lorain (finishing by going up Virginia) with Sedona and Mia. It was a great run, but my tendon has started to hurt again. : ( Back to the icing and exercises routine…
Miles: 6
Afternoon: Medicine ball and softball exercises in the gym, plus weights.

Rode 9 miles on the bike while everyone else did a tempo run at the Rose Bowl. Heather brought little tie-dyed cupcakes, and after practice we celebrated Tatyana’s birthday. Probably I’ll be off running for another few days…can’t wait to get back.
Weekly Mileage: 21.25
